FAQs

If you have a question we’ve not answered below, we’d love to hear from you. We want you to love our prawns as much as we do, so we’re happy to help if you’d like to get in touch via our Contact page.

Ordering and Delivery

What is the minimum order?

Our minimum order is for a 0.5kg box, which is usually 15 to 20 king prawns.

How much do you charge for delivery?

We are currently offering FREE weekday delivery on all orders.

Which delivery company do you use?

We currently work with DPD UK, who provide us and our customers with excellent service. We will always try to follow any “Order notes” you enter during checkout, and encourage you to provide any information which might help our couriers to find you. You will receive email and/or text message updates from DPD, giving you more detailed delivery details closer to the delivery day.

Where do you deliver to?

As this is a fresh product, we currently deliver to England, Wales and southern Scotland (just north of Edinburgh), and some postcodes on the Isle of Wight (PO31 to PO41.) Sadly we are not able to deliver to Northern Ireland currently.

What time will my delivery arrive?

Your order is packed fresh, and then sent overnight – it should arrive before 6pm the following day. Don’t forget to check your emails (including checking your spam folder) for order updates, and more details about your delivery. We can offer a special “before 12 noon” service for an additional charge of £5.00. We do not send out orders on a Friday, and do not currently offer weekend deliveries.

How will I know my delivery is on its way?

On the day of despatch (i.e. the day before your delivery is due), you will receive an email notification from DPD to let you know that your parcel is en route. As always, you can contact us with any queries or concerns.

What if I'm not in when you deliver?

We can leave your parcel in a safe place – please do let us know in the Order Notes box during checkout when you place your order.

Do you offer next day delivery?

We harvest our prawns on Thursdays, for delivery the next day. Orders placed before 9.00am on harvesting days are delivered the next day by 6pm as standard. You can request pre-12 noon delivery on that delivery day for an extra £5.00. Please contact us to request this service.

Please note: Orders cannot be amended on the day of harvesting, nor cancelled once placed. Unfortunately, we cannot offer Next Day Delivery to the Highlands & Islands at present. Due to demand, there may be occasions where our cut-off times change.

Packaging & Storage

How will my product be packaged?

We place our product in sealed packs making it super convenient for immediate use or transferring to the freezer. We do not use ice but chill packs to keep our prawns at the correct travelling temperature. Your prawns  will arrive with you in pristine condition.

Why don’t you use compostable boxes?
At FloGro we are striving to find a completely compostable box that we deliver our prawns in. Currently our boxes are made of polystyrene which is a fantastic insulator for ensuring our fresh prawns are delivered to you in tip top condition. But did you know that polystyrene is 100% recyclable? If the material is clean it can be reused to manufacture new boxes and if it isn’t clean, it can still be compacted and recycled into rigid plastic products. If your local recycling centre doesn’t accept polystyrene, you can reuse our boxes in a number of ways. Some customers have reinvented their box as:
  • A coolbox for drinks/picnics
  • A tray for growing seedlings
  • To aid drainage in plant pots by breaking the box into pieces
  • To take when you go fishing to transport your bait or catch!
  • You could even convert it into a hedgehog house.
Are our prawns suitable for home freezing?

The simple answer is “yes”! As they’ve not been previously frozen, then can be safely frozen when you receive them.

For how long can you keep prawns in a domestic refrigerator / freezer?

Fresh prawns, cooked or raw, should keep refrigerated for up to 5 days and frozen for up to 3 months below -18ºC. Once thawed, frozen prawns should not be refrozen.
